Erma Gene Jenkins Dexter, 89, of Rexburg, passed away on November 22, 2016, in Idaho Falls. She was born August 16, 1927, at home in St. Anthony, Idaho to Gilbert and Ila Nyborg Jenkins. She was the middle child of five. She went to school in St. Anthony and attended one year at Ricks College.
She married Garth Dexter on July 12, 1947, in St. Anthony. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.
Erma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several capacities in the Primary, Mutual and Relief Society organizations.
She has lived in St. Anthony, Idaho Falls, Blackfoot and has lived in Rexburg since 1979. Wherever they lived, they loved their home and made many wonderful friends.
She is survived by her husband Garth of Rexburg; children, Nicki (Wayne) Robertson of Plano; Hal Dexter of Pocatello, and Diane Dexter of Idaho Falls; three grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in -law, Barbara Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, at the Rexburg LDS North Stake Center, 314 East 2nd North, with Bishop Rob Garrett of the Rexburg 1st Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery.
