Ernest "Ernie" Young Quayle, 81, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 in Ogden, Utah.
Ernie was born December 09, 1935, in St. Anthony, to Thomas Henry and Louie Severe Quayle. Ernie grew up in St. Anthony and attended school there, graduating from South Fremont High School in 1954. After graduating, he served in both the United States Army and Army National Guard.
In 1958, Ernie married Joyce Parker, living in both Idaho and California. Together they had four children. They were later divorced. In 1969, he married Phyllis Bergeson. Together they had two daughters and lived in Egin, Idaho until her death in 2011. In 2014, he married Ellie Syme. They spent time in Egin, Idaho, Ogden, Utah, and Mesquite, Arizona until his passing.
Ernie had a love for building, and spent most of his career as a self-employed carpenter in Eastern Idaho. Besides carpentry, Ernie loved to spend time riding his horses and spent several years working as a cowboy in both Kilgore and Hamer, Idaho. He often spoke of this work as his "dream" job.
Ernie especially loved his grandchildren. He could frequently be found attending rodeos, basketball, football, and soccer games to support them. The love was mutual with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ellie, of Ogden, Utah; daughters, Lori Mahoney of Denver, Colorado; Ann (Dusty) Peterson of Hamer, Idaho, and Maurita (Jake) Hayworth of St. Anthony, Idaho; a stepson, Kale Bergeson of Pocatello, Idaho, 12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lois (Max) Hanks, Clara (Byron) Parkinson, Inella (David) Douglas, Rhea (Mike) Stephens, Gaylene (Bruce)Thuesen and one brother, Danny (Caroline) Quayle. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons; Thomas Michael Quayle and infants Christopher Blaine and Bobby, as well as three brothers; Charles "Cheddy" Quayle, Henry "Tabby" Quayle and Amil Quayle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at the Egin Bench LDS church (1633 E. 400 N.) Friends may call from 09:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church just prior to the services. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery with military rites by the St. Anthony Veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
