Obituary

Eunice Henrie Borgholthaus died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at age 91 in Rexburg, ID.

Eunice was born February 1, 1930 in the small farming community of Blue Creek, Utah.  As a young girl she lived in Juniper, ID and Snowville, UT before moving with her family to Logan, Utah at age 11 and always considered Logan her hometown.

She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education where she and Don met while both were students.  Later she completed graduate work in Education at the University of Washington.  Don's work as a physicist moved them to many locations:  Fort Worth, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Seattle, WA, Boise, ID, Chico, CA, Pleasant Hill, CA and finally Fresno, CA — Eunice always assimilated quickly to her new environment and found ways to be involved with her local church congregation.

Retirement took Don and Eunice back to Boise, ID in 1992 where they were both faithful, long-term temple workers in the Boise Temple.  Eunice was a gifted teacher and speaker and taught elementary school for several years in the Seattle area and later taught early morning and release-time seminary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for well over a decade.

Eunice was an avid reader, an accomplished gardener and loved to watch any football and baseball game or golf match.  Although never a public performer, she was a talented pianist and was also well-known for her perfectly flaky pie crusts.  She was a beautiful seamstress, quilter, knitter and crocheter.  Scores of family, friends and humanitarian causes were the lucky recipients of her many creations.

Eunice is survived by her three children: Miriam (Dave) Higginson of Rexburg, ID, Jeffrey (Anne) Borgholthaus of Lusby, MD and Carole (David) Gates of Henderson, NV, 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, her youngest brother, Darwin (Angie) Henrie and sisters-in-law Renee Henrie and Sharon Henrie.
