Evelyn Jean Jones died October 4, 2016 due to natural causes at her home. She was born on January 3, 1949 on March Air Force Base, California. She grew up in a military family with her father being a Chaplain in the United States Air Force so she lived in many different places. She lived in Germany, Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota and many years in Salinas, CA where her father retired.
She attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she studied Biology. That is where she met Kenneth R. Jones II.
She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in March 1970 and married Kenneth on June 6, 1970 in San Luis Obispo. Her father as Chaplain was able to perform the marriage. Ken and Evelyn lived in New Jersey where Ken was stationed in the Army at Fort Dix. Upon leaving the Army, they moved to Canyon Country, California where they spent over 30 years before moving to Rexburg 10 years ago.
Evelyn will be remembered for her loyalty and never-ending dedication to her family and friends, her many talents, her leadership, her kind heart and her honesty. She had a great love of music and singing. She was the lead in all of her high school musicals. She was a member of the Woman's Trio at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as well as the Southern California Mormon Choir. She was always a member of every ward choir and loved it.
Evelyn was always well put together and classy. She always remembered important dates and made everyone feel loved and special. She had a spunky personality and sense of humor. Everyone has loved her commitment to the church and loved ones. She sacrificed a lot for her family and was happiest when we were all together. She is loved by many. We will miss her signature wave and bright smile.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her six children Nicole, Kimberly, Aaron, Jenelle, Jason and Denise; her nineteen grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Louise Everts and her infant sister, Beth.
