Fay Haroldsen, 84, of Rexburg, passed away of natural causes April 3, 2016, at her daughter's home. She was born in Cardston Alberta but was raised in Vancouver B.C. Canada. Her parents Ernest Dietrich and Gladys Mary Tillack raised her, her sister Winone and brother Keith in a loving home.
She loved to swim in the ocean and eventually worked as a telephone operator there. She met Norman Victor Haroldsen in a church dance and would eventually give up her Canadian citizenship and big city life to marry him. They were married on July 28, 1950 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Southeast Idaho for 65 years.
Fay and Norman loved to travel the world. They traveled extensively to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, throughout North America and even to Egypt where she got to ride a camel. Her adventurous spirit continued throughout her life and she was able to accomplish many bucket list items in the last years of her life.
She went on a cruise, rode a motorcycle, went parasailing and rode a hot air balloon. She was very talented in knitting and made numerous afghans and clothes for her kids and grandkids. She taught many, many girls how to knit and crochet.
She loved her family and supported them in everything. She was the best listener, the best friend and the best mom, grandmother, aunt, niece and friend. She did not like to be in the lime light but was very content working behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. She will be missed immensely by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children; Brian (Janet) Haroldsen of Taylorville, Utah, Keith (Carolyn) Haroldsen of Menan, Idaho, Linda (Mike) Mitchell of Rexburg, Idaho, Ronald (Vallerie) Haroldsen of Provo, Utah, Warren (April) Haroldsen of Woods Cross, Utah, Laurie (Daren) Call of Rexburg, Idaho and Catherine (Kevin) Thomas of Ammon, Idaho, as well as 40 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren.
