Obituary

On Sunday January 9, 2022 Florence Rawson Bauer, 86, was called home to her Father in Heaven following a lingering illness. She was surrounded by loving family members when she was called home.

Florence was born in St. Anthony, Idaho on December 31, 1935 to Leslie LeRoy Rawson and Sarah Elizabeth Wright. The sixth of ten children. She was raised in the St. Anthony area with her siblings and she attended schools in St. Anthony as well.

Florence had a strong work ethic and began working at the age of 8. She continued working until she was forced to retire at age 81 from Artco.
She met the love of her life Donald Gene Bauer in 1952 and they were married May 24, 1953 in St. Anthony and lived and raised their family here. They were married for 53 years.

Florence loved her family and enjoyed family get togethers and being together as a whole. She was not one to spend idle time and kept busy taking care of her yard and crocheting. She crocheted afghans for each of her children and mad sure her grandchildren and great grandchildren and other family members had one of her special blankets.

She loved to bowl and was on bowling leagues in both St. Anthony and Rexburg. She participated in many Nampa, Caldwell and other areas for State Bowling Tournaments.

Florence was a dedicated wife. When Donny became ill and needed a heart transplant she never left his side. They moved to Salt Lake City for 5 months before he received a heart and then stayed for several months afterwards. She did not complain and kept many of their trial from their kids. She was a champion and was steadfast through it all.

Florence was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many positions but her favorite was camp director. It was during this time that the girls named her Ma Bear.

She was a proud woman who found it hard to take help from anyone. She in fact mowed her own lawn until she was 81 when Donna took it over. She loved her family. She was a proud mom, grandmother and great grandma. Her house was open to all that came.

In August of 2021 Florence was moved to Homestead Assisted Living in S. Anthony. We are greatful for the love and care and concern shown to her from the caregivers at Homestead and from the carefivers at Homestead and from Aspen Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her sweetheart Donald Bauer, her parents, 4 brothers, William, Bert, Richard and Ed and an older sister, Mary, and two sons-in-law, Kip and Burke.

Florence is survived by her children Terry (Debbie) Bauer of St. Anthony; Kristine (Dick) Olson of St. Anthony; Connie (Craig) Bradley of Rigby; Virginia Bergeson of St. Anthony; Donna (Evan) Worrell of St. Anthony, 16 grandchildren, 33 and a half great grandchildren and 8 and a half great great grandcildren. She is also survived by brothers Charles Rawson of Sugar City, Alvin Rawson of Idaho Falls, and sisters, Martha Russell and Lyla Prather both of St. Anthony.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. in the Wilford LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends also on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
