Floyd Nef

Dec 1, 1937 — Aug 25, 2026

Rexburg

Floyd Sorenson Nef was born to Albert and Daphne Sorenson Nef on December 1, 1937, in Rexburg, Idaho. He was the youngest of five children. His siblings were LaMar, Lois, Dwayne, and Clyde Nef. He passed away on August 25, 2026, in the care of Homestead from Parkinson’s disease.

Floyd went to elementary school in Burton and attended Madison High School where he participated in choir and musicals. As a young adult, he sang in a quartet.

He served an LDS mission in the Central States Mission. Floyd served in the Army Reserves for several years when he was first married.

He married Sally Hursh on August 24, 1962. They had 7 children, Cory, Casey, Michaelene, Kim, Marla, Dan, and Lauralee. Casey and Michaelene were twins who passed away the same day they were born. Floyd and Sally were later divorced.

He married Marsha Nelson Briggs on July 27, 1990. Her children, Mindy, Russel, Michael, and Dara became part of his life as well. Between the two of them, they have 9 living children, 22 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

He worked at Basic American Foods for 39 ½ years, retiring as a supervisor.

He served in the Rexburg LDS temple for 15 years. He hated missing a shift. He got to know a lot of people there and appreciated their friendships.

He was preceded in death by his twins, his parents, and all of his siblings.

We would like to thank neighbors and caretakers who helped Floyd during his illness. We especially appreciate the employees at Homestead for how well they treated him.

Services will be Saturday, August 29, at the Heritage 4th Ward LDS Church building at 11:00 a.m. The address is 2332 West 2000 South in Rexburg.
