Obituary

Floyd Vaughn Simper, 68, of Newdale returned to live with his Heavenly Father January 9, 2017, due to injuries from a fall at his home.

Floyd was born October 29, 1948 to H. Vaughn and Freda Morrill Simper. He was the third of 6 children. The family moved to Utah for a short time and then returned to Idaho. Eventually they settled in Grand View in 1956, and later bought a farm where they raised the family. Floyd graduated from Grandview High School in 1967 after which he attended Heavy Equipment Operator School in Weiser, Idaho. At age 19 Floyd was called to serve an LDS mission to Mexico then reassigned to Uruguay. He served joyfully and his mission was a great positive, influence on the rest of his life.

Soon after returning from his mission he met Lesli Powell. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and eternity September 4, 1970. They welcomed eight beautiful children into their family and enjoyed 46 wonderful years together.

Floyd worked as an asbestos removal and insulation specialist on commercial and industrial properties for 35 years. He traveled widely with his profession from Boise to Argentina. He enjoyed all aspects of his work but was happiest when he worked on LDS temples. He was blessed to work on 5 temples: West Jordan, Portland, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

After retirement in 2011 he focused on his family, his garden, fishing and hunting. In 2013 he, along with his wife Lesli, was called to serve an LDS Family Service Mission in the Addiction Recovery Program. He loved serving and it was a calling from which he was never released. He was also committed to his work in the Rexburg Temple where he served with Lesli in the baptistery. He also loved doing Family History work and indexed nearly 11,000 Italian names.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Lesli, his children: Matthew (Michelle) Simper of St. Anthony, Miriam (Clayton) Dance of Chubbuck, Deborah (Justin)Meyer of Pocatello, Joshua (Kacy) Simper of Ft.
