Obituary

Frank LeRoy Jenkins, 82, a lifetime resident of Madison County, died suddenly, Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Frank was born June 22, 1930, in Malad, Idaho , the son of Huston Lusk and Caddie Davis Jenkins. He attended school in Sugar City until the seventh grade and then finished his schooling at Madison in Rexburg.

He married LoRene Ricks on April 6, 1949 in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 23, 1949. They made their home in Rexburg.

He worked for Flamm Furniture learning the floor covering business, then sold Prudential Life Insurance. He owned his own floor covering business until 1976 when the Teton Dam broke. He then started a new business in Thornton, Idaho, the South Fork Mini-Mart, now the Shell Gas Station. People loved Frank and would visit the store first thing in the morning to see Frank, get a good laugh and be on their way.

Frank enjoyed being outdoors, always busy dabbling with various projects. He possessed a love for fishing and swimming, and of as late enjoyed soaking at Heise Hot Springs. He loved spending time with his family and was a great whistler. He was an avid sports fan. He loved driving day trips to the Tetons. He always looked forward to visiting the various naval duty stations of his youngest daughter and son-in-law.

He is survived by his seven children; Shelley (Frank) Johnson of Rexburg, Annette (Ted) Dye of Rexburg, Joylene Raymond of Menan, Joel (Deanna) Jenkins of Rexburg, Colette (Steve) Atwood of Arco, Thomas Jenkins of Darlington, Lorilee (Frank) Bennett of Spokane, Washington; 35 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Huston Dee (Marilyn) Jenkins of Pocatello and Vaugh (Jeanne) Jenkins of Rexburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LoRene, his parents, brothers Jay and Delbert, a sister Arlene, a grandson Jared Johnson, and a son-in-law Don Raymond.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 at the Rexburg 3rd Ward LDS Chapel with Clyde Southwick officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
