Fred VaLoy Blaser, 86, of Plano passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 from complications of a long fought battle with Inclusion Body Myositis.
Fred was born at home in Plano, Idaho on September 15, 1934. He graduated from Sugar Salem High School and attended Ricks College, served as a missionary in the Central Atlantic States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He then served in the Army before receiving a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Agricultural Economics from Brigham Young University. While attending BYU he met Linda (his beautiful bride) and they were married on March 20, 1965. They soon after moved to the family farm where they raised 8 beautiful children. Fred was recognized as Farmer of the Year by the Rexburg chamber of commerce in 1997. Fred filled his life with service. He served many years in the Farm Bureau, spent summers organizing activities for retirees visiting from Arizona, he served on the Sugar Salem School board, held many callings in the church and especially loved scouting and spending time with the boys camping and in the mountains.
Fred is survived by his wife, Linda Blaser; His children, Rich (Julaine) Blaser, Darren (Christy) Blaser, Rachelle (Ferron) Martineau, Dana Campbell, Mike Blaser, Sharon (Dave) Crofts, Robert (Danielle) Blaser; 30 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, all 7 siblings, and a daughter, Patricia, and a grandson, Jaxson Blaser.
Private family services will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East Rexburg, ID. Interment will be in the Plano Cemetery.
