Fred B. Falter, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away at home Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Fred was born August 26, 1928, in Pocatello, Idaho to Eldon Cecil Falter and Eva Vera Bitton. He was the oldest of three children. He was raised in Pocatello and attended Pocatello High School where he met his sweetheart.
He married Mabelle Ellsworth on August 29, 1948. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple, They have had 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Fred worked for many years for Union Pacific Railroad. He loved to fish, camp, and travel. He loved the ocean and the mountains. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After retiring from the Railroad, Fred continued working alongside his wife until the age of 85 and was physically active his entire life.
He is remembered for always singing little songs, his sense of humor, and his kindness and love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mabelle Falter; 7 children: Lynn E. Falter (JoAnne); Craig Edward Falter (Robin); Susan Falter Powell (Calvin); Tracy Lee Falter; Connie Falter Hanson (David); Karen Falter Kennedy (Kevin); and Shannon Harker (Tom); and his sister, Flora Belle Kent (Harvey); 44 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy Gene Falter.
Funeral services will be held at Flamm Funeral Home (61 North 1st East) 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
