Gareld Rudolph Larsen, W7WWY, signed off December 11, 2010 at home. Gareld was born July 7,1936 at Independence, Idaho to Rudolph Christian and Norma Beck Larsen. He married Suzan Lewis December 18,1986 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.

Gareld attended Burton School until the eighth grade then attended and graduated from Madison High School. He attended Ricks College and earned a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Science Fellowship, winning a KSL Scholarship. Later he earned a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Idaho. He first worked for Northrope in California. He retired from the University of Chicago Argonne West TREAT in 1997 after 35 years of service at the INEL. He was listed in Who's Who in the West in 1980.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Ward Clerk in many bishoprics and was a faithful home teacher. He loved adventure and travel and was proud of his pilot's license, Amateur Radio, and Double E license. He loved to work, the farm and watch the stock market. He was very modest about his gifts and talents.

He is survived by his wife Suzan Larsen of Rexburg and children; Gayle Rae Larsen of Houston, Texas and Walter C. Larsen of Rexburg, and a brother Dale Louis (Diana) Larsen of Rexburg. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday before services, both at the funeral home.
