Obituary

Garland S Zollinger, 62, of Burton, Idaho passed away August 24, 2011, at his home from cancer. He was born in Rexburg to Darwin C. Zollinger and Blanche Siepert Zollinger, Oct. 24, 1948. He was one of eight children.

Garland was raised in Burton and spent his childhood enjoying the country life. He never got far from home, living and working in Alaska for a short time when he was younger, but returning to Burton for the rest of his life. He owned and operated Zollinger Truck Repair. Truckers and farmers brought problems to Garland that no one else could fix. He was known as one of the best welders in Southeast Idaho.

In September 2002, Garland married Amy Linville West, from Seattle WA. They spent 9 happy years raising her children and two more beautiful daughters they had together.

His children are Nicholas Zollinger of Bellingham WA, Chancee Harger of Pocatello, ID, Alix, Telia, and Lora Zollinger of Rexburg, and step children Cenni and Kyrin West of Rexburg.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garland served as 1st Counselor, in the Burton 4th Ward Bishopric, until the time of his illness in June 2011. His church activity and testimony of the Savior were very dear to him.

He is survived by his wife Amy, their children, 2 grandchildren, brothers Gary Zollinger of Boise, Eric (Diana) Zollinger of Menan, Irvin (JuDee) Zollinger of Meridian, Rob (Tracy) Zollinger of Gilbert, AZ and one sister, Lisa (Tony) McClure of Meridian.

Garland was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and two brothers, Bradley and Kent, and an infant son, Mark Curtis Zollinger.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Rexburg Stake Center, at 845 W 7th S, Rexburg, Idaho. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at Flamm Funeral home in Rexburg and from 10:00 am to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
