Gary Elmo Clements, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 14, 2024, in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born on April 24, 1936, to Silas and Sarah Clements in Rexburg, Idaho.
Gary was a dedicated teacher who shared his knowledge and skills with others throughout his life. From the 5th-8th grade classroom & Seminary to appliance maintenance and carpet installation at Flamm Furniture. He also served as Sugar City's Fire Chief, utilizing his firefighting skills to protect the community. Additionally, he contributed to the Sugar City Schools by managing building and technical maintenance. Gary's passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as he taught countless life skills to everyone he met.
Being an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gary found joy in serving in various callings, ranging from Primary to Bishopric. Especially memorable was as a young missionary serving in the Gulf states Mission and later with his wife in the Atlanta Georgia North mission.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs, Vivian Echo Clements, and their children: Doug, Mike (Cindy), Vicki (Jeff), David (Joanna), Mark (Shelbi), Tony (Remy), Julie (Dave), Amy (Bryan), Richard (Joey), and Chrissy. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edgar and Kirkland Clements, his son Benjamin Clements, and granddaughter Kaitlin Nickel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 5:30-7 pm at Flamm Funeral Home, located at 61 North 1st East, Rexburg, Idaho. On Saturday, January 20, 2024, there will be a visitation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at the Sugary City Gray Chapel, located at 6 N Teton Avenue, Sugar City, Idaho. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Rexburg Cemetery .
The family would like to thank the Rexburg Homestead and their staff for the loving care and joy they brought Dad these last few months.
Gary Elmo Clements will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
