Obituary

Gary Glen Cook, age 78, returned home on May 21, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family as they stood vigil over him with great tenderness while the angels gently lifted his spirit into the heavenly hands of our Savior. Gary was born on October 21, 1937 to loving parents, Ronald Cook and Ethel Caroline Barney. He was blessed with a majestic presence. He loved and was loved by everyone he ever met. It was often said of him "he never met a stranger". He grew up in Rexburg Idaho where his parents taught him the value of working hard and doing the job right the first time, which he applied throughout his life.

He graduated from Madison High School, and attended Ricks College where he played football. Gary was very well liked due in large part to his friendly and outgoing personality. Gary started at an early age working in his father's grocery store "Main Street Grocery" and spent the rest of his life in the grocery industry culminating his career as the manager of Broulim's in Rexburg Idaho.

He met Nola Mae Fullmer, the love of his life. They married on August 1st 1958, in Coltman Idaho. In 2007 he took her to the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and received the promise of being eternal companions. Most of their time was spent in the Southern Idaho area where they raised their four sons and two daughters.

Gary was privileged and blessed with the care of two wonderful daughters and four sons who he cherished and adored. He was a constant example of love and guidance, and each child knew that they were loved. Gary drove endless miles to watch each and every event the children participated in whether it was academic, sporting, or of a spiritual nature. His grandchildren were a constant source of admiration; they too were blessed with his never-ending love as he would constantly tease and embrace them.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ronald Cook and Ethel Coroline Barney; his brothers Ronald Lee Cook and Steven Brent Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Nola Mae Fullmer; as well as his children and their spouses: Ronald (Brad) Cook and Hellen (Dusty) Trent, Gary (Tate) Cook and Alicia Dawn McGlaughlin , Howard (Todd) Cook and Cynthia Beth Miles, Debbra Rae Cook and Wally Hammons, Pamela Dianne Cook, and Drew Gannon Cook; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 26th at the Rexburg Center Stake building, 590 Summerwood. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Gary, we will miss you more than we can ever say. We are comforted in the knowledge that we will be together again. We will honor your legacy by being joyful in our lives and serving others with unconditional love.
