Obituary

Gary William Farnsworth was born in 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His sister, Gay, who was 22 months older, passed away at age 58 in Sparks, Nevada.

Gary went all the way through school in Reno, Nevada. While he was in college, Gary joined the Nevada Air National Guard and served in the military for 20 years. He retired as a Captain.

While teaching school in Yerington, Nevada, he met the missionaries and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1971. He first met his wife, Sherry, in Fallon, Nevada. They were married for eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1975. Gary continued to serve in the church and the temple throughout his life. Gary and Sherry were blessed with two sons, Mark and Glen. Mark and his wife, Nicole, live in Rexburg with their two sons and two daughters. Glen lives in Reno with his wife, Rachael. They have five sons and one daughter.

In addition to his work as a teacher and in the Air National Guard, Gary had a master's degree in counseling and worked for many years as a mental health counselor. A hard worker, Gary always had a project going. These included building his own house in Reno and many other DIY tasks that demonstrated his skills as a carpenter, metal worker, and mechanic.

In his free time, he loved to travel with his wife and family. His travels took him all over the United States and across the world. Gary's legacy of faith, love, and service will always be remembered.
