Gary L. Furniss, 78 of Teton, died Monday, November 23, 2015 of causes incident to age.
He was born on October 31, 1937 in Teton, Idaho to Lewis W. And Ivy Parker Furniss.
He was raised in Teton and attended school there as well as St. Anthony where he graduated form South Fremont High School. He also attended Ricks College.
He married Gaye Linda Green on April 1, 1959 in Rigby, Idaho. To this union was born three children, Rodney G, Kimra Louise and Thomas Mark. They later divorced.
He farmed for many years in the Menan area for the Green Brothers. He worked for Parson Construction in many parts of Nevada and Utah in road construction. Gary also spent an enlistment in the National Guard.
He married Lois Geneva Guymon on March 3, 1989 in the Salt Lake L.D.S Temple and with this marriage added her five children to his own.
He then worked for about ten years as a custodian for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a job from which he retired.
He enjoyed raising sheep, being a small farmer and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Lois Furniss; children, Ronda Wallace; David Shields (Sue); Calvan Shields; Jeanie Chavez (Nicky); Rodney G. Furniss (Jan); Kim Zeller (Chris); Mark Furniss (Collette); and a son-in-law Steve Borg. He is also survived by three sisters, Barbara Jenkins (Gary); Marcile Gorder (Gail); Linda Thurber (Blaine); 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister's, Irene Dickson and Melba Parkinson and Lois' daughter Toni Borg.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Teton 2nd LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Randy Hillman officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
