Obituary

Elden Gene Statham, 64, of Rexburg, died Sunday, March 6, at his home of natural causes. He was born December 8, 1951, in Rexburg to Gale Elden and Lucille Stocks Statham. He was welcomed home by his older brothers, Max and Kay. Two more brothers joined the family after Gene, Terry and Boyd.

He attended Adams Elementary, Madison Jr. High and graduated from Madison High School, where he participated on the wrestling and football teams.

He met and married Betty Mickelsen. To this union was born a son, Corey. Gene and Betty were later divorced.

Gene worked for Mickelsen's Lumber for 20 years and then for Sun-Glo for 15 years. He then went to work at Basic American Foods and Frontier Pies prior to retiring.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, camping and just being in the mountains.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a member of AA and had been sober for over 18 years. He was a sponsor for other AA members during these years.

He is survived by his son, Corey (Christy) Statham of Parker; brothers, Max (Janet) Statham, Terry Statham and Boyd Statham; and a grandson, Dustyn Statham. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a brother, Kay Statham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg with Bishop Paul Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
