Obituary

David Gene Williams, 84, of Rexburg, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family.

Gene was born March 12, 1934, in Ogden, Utah. He received his Eagle Scout award by the time he was 14 years old, and served in the Boy Scouts for many years. He served with the National Guard during the Korean War.

He married Adrienne Penman on March 6, 1953, in the Logan Utah Temple. They had 7 wonderful children, four boys and three girls. They lived in several places in Utah and then Idaho. After moving to Idaho they bought the T Bar T Restaurant (formerly Fullmer's Beach) and developed it into the Sandhills Resort. The resort was just a steak house, sand, and lava rock when they bought it. Gene and Adrienne started on RV park and it eventually grew to more than 109 RV spots. They planted grass and trees and built a store, showers, and created an oasis in the middle of the sand. Gene and Adrienne divorced. Gene married Shirley Eddins and they later divorced.

Gene held many positions in the LDS Church including working with the Boy Scouts and serving as the Young Men's President. He served a mission in the Las Vegas, Nevada Mission working on the Reservation. His passion in life was spending time with his family, and anything musical. Gene played the saxophone and piano. He spent many hours singing with his family. Gene and Adrienne loved the LDS Road Shows and put on several for their wards.

He is survived by his children Brad (Cindy) Williams, Scott Williams, Julee (Royce) Savage, Cary (Lisa) Williams, Lynn (Paula) Williams, Jana (Tom) Bishoff, Jeanne (Kevin) Wright; a brother Benne Dee (Diana) Williams; 44 grandchildren, 101 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
