Genevieve "Genny" Kennington, 76, of Preston, passed away on January 3, 2019 of natural causes.

She was born April 22, 1942 in Archer, Idaho to Samuel Lee and Myrtle Martha Wilcox Kennington. She attended area schools and graduated from Madison High School and attended Ricks College and Idaho State University.

Genny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the England Leeds Mission from 1977-1978. She has served faithfully in various church callings. Genny was very dedicated in her faith.

She moved to Preston in manage the Plaza Motel, Corner Mart and she worked for the school district. She spent the rest of her life loving the people of Preston. One of her mission companions, Hali became her best friend and confidante when she moved to Preston. She spent time traveling and visited England where she left so many new friends from her mission.

Genny loved her nieces and nephews and always had something fun to share with them. She also had a special place in her for the elderly.

She is survived by two sisters; Romma (Robert) Howell of Rexburg and Fern (Richard) Hirst of Burley, eight nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Myrtle Kennington, her brother Lydon and her sister Norma.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Archer Chapel, 201 West 8000 South, Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
