Obituary

Genevieve Keppner Smith, 89 of Rexburg, passed away in her home, on January 22, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born in Rexburg on August 19, 1923 to Lehi Arthur Keppner and Mary Ella Statham Keppner. She was the fourth of nine children. She was raised in Hibbard and attended school there and graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg.

In 1940 she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Sherman Smith, Jr. In the Salt Lake LDS temple. Together they raised four daughters: Lyneve (Bud) Hardy, Charleen (Jon) O'Rullian, Jill Spencer, Jody (Jeff) Cottle. Charles preceded her in death in 2003.

For many years she worked in area dress shops. She was most well known as a professional seamstress and made hundreds of formals and wedding dresses.

She served in many organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but her time in the Relief Society was the most extensive and she enjoyed serving others.

Gen & Charles were well known as two of the founders of the Holiday Dance Club.

Besides her daughters, she is survived by 17 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lucille Johnson, Mona Jensen, Billie Thompson and Jean Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Rexburg Center Stake. The family will receive friends on Monday the 28th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Tuesday at the stake center from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
