He played football and earned his Eagle Scout Badge. The summers were spent irrigating the fields for his father starting at age 10.

Following High School he attended Idaho State College in Pocatello After a year there he decided he wanted to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was called to the Eastern Canada Mission and served from 1962 to 1964 where he “learned to grow up”.

After he returned home he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and met Renee Searle. They were married on November 5, 1965 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Conard worked in Idaho Falls at a parts house, They moved to Shelly Idaho in 1967 where daughter Kola was born.

They found better work in Hemmett, California and he began carpenter work framing houses in the expanding developments there, He also had a side business singling roofs. He liked that because he could make more money. Daughters Kamra and Kheila were born and they bought their first house.

Conard and his family moved back to Firth, Idaho for a period then worked for CAPP Homes in Seattle, Washington where he traveled as a field inspector throughout Oregon, Washington, and Montana. Another daughter, Katina, was born.

When the Teton Dam broke he moved back to Idaho and continued framing houses. His son, Kolby, was born in 1981. Conard and his family moved to Ogden, Utah and he started his own business”Redwood Fences and Decks” and got his carpenter's license. Conard and Renee went on missions to Kentucky, St. George, Utah, and Nauvoo, Illinois. They were later divorced.

Conard had met Martha Nelson in High School in Driggs, Idaho. They went their separate ways, but later met through church in Ogden, Utah in 1964, but it wasn't until 2014 when they reconnected. They were married in Rexburg, Idaho on December 27, 2014.

Conard was retired and spent his time studying the scriptures, attending the temple, and was an ordinance worker in the temple until his illness prevented his continuation. Conard was also a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers.
