Gladys Rasmussen, 87, of Plano, Idaho passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Gladys was born January 15, 1929 in Plano, Idaho to Ernest and Margaret Grosnick Blaser.
She grew up and attended school at Plano and Edmunds schools in Madison County and also attended Ricks College.
On December 2, 1947 she married Louis H. Rasmussen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they made their home in Plano, where they have lived for 68 years.
She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whose family meant everything to her. She will be sweetly remembered for her homemade bread, rolls, cookies and twice-baked potatoes and so much more!
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. A few include Primary President, Relief Society President and Cub Scout Leader. Many in the area know of her service to the Cub Scout Program where she trained scout leaders for many years and worked diligently to help establish Cub Scouts in the area. She also received the prestigious Silver Beaver scouting award for her valiant efforts in scouting. She and her husband Louis gladly accepted the call to serve a mission for the LDS church in the Rostov-na-Donu, Russia Mission where they made many friends and were greatly loved. After they returned home from their mission, Gladys and Louis served for many years in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples.
She served on the 4-H Council of Madison County of Madison County and taught 4-H for many years and the Madison County Planning and Zoning Board.
Gladys is survived by her husband Louis of 68 years; siblings, Fred Blaser and Roland Blaser; and children, Christine (Lewis) Klingler of Newdale, Idaho, Michael (Marie) Rasmussen of Plano, Idaho, Janeen (Gene) Shawcroft of Provo, Utah, Kathleen (Joe) Sorenson of Murray, Utah, Alan Rasmussen of Rexburg, Idaho, Phil (Kami) Rasmussen of Rexburg, Idaho, Paul (Janet) Rasmussen of Riverton, Utah, Nancy (Wayne) Henson of Orem, Utah and Ryan Rasmussen of Sugar City, Idaho, as well as 37 grandchildren and 70 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gwyllum and Clair Blaser, and sisters, Mildred Brown, Marjorie Blaser, and Elaine Beard.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Plano LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Plano Cemetery.
