Glenda Louisa Hammer Sharp, 87, of Sugar City died in Utah on February 27, 2026. Glenda was born on June 15, 1938, in Idaho Falls to Lewis and Louisa Hammer. Glenda was the youngest of 5 children including 3 sisters and 1 brother. She grew up learning the value of hard work on their family farm in Ammon, Idaho.
Glenda graduated from Bonneville High School in Ammon, Idaho. She continued her education at Ricks College and Utah State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Glenda taught elementary school full time for 18 years. She retired from being in the classroom full time, but continued to substitute for another 18 years.
Glenda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in Stake and Ward auxiliaries. Her love for the gospel and testimony of Jesus Christ were the foundation of her life. Her testimony was a great comfort to her, especially during the final years of her life.
Glenda is survived by her son John (Lori) Sharp of Sugar City; and daughter Jana Sharp of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; son-in-law Robert Parish of Nevada; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, daughter LeeAnn, parents and siblings.
Our family wishes to thank Valencia Assisted Living in Draper, Utah, for their service during her final years. Every team member showed compassion and kindness for our mom and she loved living there. We would also like to give a very special thank you to her hospice nurses, Parisa, Liz, and Shauna for their exceptional service and care. She loved each of you very much, and we can never thank you enough for loving her right back and making her feel like she was more than just a job to you.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Sugar City Cemetery with Bishop Tyson Harris officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Thursday from 10:00 - 10:45 am at the Sugar City Stake Center prior to graveside service.
