Obituary

Glenn Mervin Haws, 86 of St. Anthony, died Monday, October 17, 2011 of natural causes.
He was born April 30, 1925 in Rexburg, Idaho, as son of Marion VerNon and Ehtel Spaulding Haws. He grew up in Twin Groves where he attended school through the 8th grade. He quit school to work on the family farm.
He joined the Army in 1944 and served in the European Theater of WWII where he was wounded and then discharged in 1945.
He later married Marlene Levette, they had 3 children and then divorced. In 1968 he married Velma Reum and together they had 4 children.
He had a great passion for his horses, loved spending time with his family, and spent a lot of time at the local coffee shop. He served many years as a police officer for the City of St. Anthony and retired as Chief of Police in 1987.
He is survived by his wife Velma of St. Anthony; children, Brad Haws Darius Haws, Kara Martinez, Dawna (Roberto) Morillon and Chuck Haws all of St. Anthony; a sister Genece (Glen) Brown of Blackfoot; grandchildren, Jessica and Jose Martinez of St. Anthony; Marisela and Fabian Morillon of St. Anthony; Brooke and Ashley Haws of New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 daughters, Brenda and Bretta.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony) and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery with military rites provided by the St. Anthony VFW and American Legion and the Idaho honor Guard.
