Gloria Faye Thomason Sorensen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born September 9, 1945, in Rexburg, Idaho. Her parents are Levi E. Thomason and Faye Cora Bowen. She was welcomed by one brother, Sherman L. Thomason, who is four years older. They lived in Thornton, and Sherman currently resides at the original family homestead.
Gloria married Michael Von Sorensen on March 20, 1964. They were later sealed as a family for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, on December 4, 1965, Michael’s birthday.
Gloria grew up on her parents’ farm and remembered the fun years with her cousins, fishing at Yellowstone with her dad, and her friends she met at the Burton School. They stayed lifelong friends whom she cherished.
Gloria’s journal documented the farm life, boating, skiing, water skiing with the boys, and fishing on the Salmon River. These were times when the boys flourished and grew with their love for nature.
Mike and Gloria’s life with very fulfilling with the gospel, family, and hard work on the dry farm.
Gloria spent a large portion of her time as a caregiver to her father, her mother, and later years to her husband, Mike.
Gloria loved beautifying her home and yard full time once she and Mike retired. The grew beautiful flowers and enjoyed raised gardening. Many neighbors benefitted from their tomatoes and other produce.
Gloria was very grateful for her neighbors and ward members. She loved the gospel with all her heart, might, mind and strength.
She survived by her three sons, Jeff (Shannon) Sorensen of West Lake, California, Todd (Chress) Sorensen of Rigby, Idaho, and Steve (Heidi) Sorensen of Salem, Idaho, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She also survived by her brother, Sherman (Della) Thomason.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Michael, two children, Tracey and Troy, and one grandchild, Byron Sorensen.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2026 at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. Private family services will follow.
