Gordon Leo Timothy was welcomed home May 27th, 2026, by his Savior, joyfully reunited with his mom and dad and all his siblings.
Gordon was born June 1st, 1944, to Elmer Timothy and Delsa Lenore Jacobs in Price, Utah. The sixth of seven children.
His family moved to Sugar City, Idaho when Gordon was two. He spent his formative years in Sugar, creating havoc that was always blamed on his younger brother, Alma. He graduated from Sugar Salem high school in 1962 as co-salutatorian. He attended one year at Ricks College and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New England Mission.
Upon returning, he graduated from Ricks College with an associate’s degree in Math. He earned a B.S in Psychology, a master’s degree in educational psychology, and a Doctorate in Instructional Psychology all from BYU in Provo. He loved learning.
He taught chemistry for two years at the high school in St. Anthony. He taught psychology and study skills at Ricks College from 1970 through 2006, 36 years.
He met his eternal companion, Janet Hunter, at Ricks College. They were married on August 8th, 1967. He devoted his life to loving her every day of their marriage. One of their favorite things to do was to hold hands. They were blessed with six wonderful children, Delsa Rae, Brian, Brent, G. Wayne, Boyd, and Mindy. Oh, the adventures they have had.
He loved being involved with music. He sang with a quartet, the Honeywells, from high school through college, performing all over the area. He sang with the barbershop group, The Carousel Chorus, which he loved, and participated with church choirs all his life.
He also enjoyed his years as a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, and appreciated the learning and friendships made there.
He treasured most his testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served on high councils, bishoprics, as a bishop, and as a teacher of the gospel. He and his wife served a mission together in the Utica New York mission as C.E.S. missionaries on the Cornell campus. They also served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples as temple workers. They are grateful for the covenants made there and will always treasure the lifelong friendships made. He has blessed countless lives and found joy in doing so.
“Make sure to go to sleep so you don’t scare the reindeer. Ho Ho Ho” was his Christmas message to neighbors and friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
Thank you to the care givers at the Teton Healthcare of Cascadia and EIRMC, doctors and nurses.
