Gumecindo Hernandez, 50, of Saint Anthony, passed away peacefully in his home on January 11, 2021. Gume was born in Guerrero Mexico on January 13, 1970, to Reynaldo and Melania Hernandez.
He graduated from High School in Mexico and moved to Idaho at the age of 21. He met his sweetheart, Emily Wiser, and got married at the age of 22. During his life, he raised 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building award-winning hot rods in his garage. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at High Country Potato, until 2011. After an 8-year battle with cancer, Gume entered remission in 2018. One of his favorite accomplishments, was finally achieving his American Citizenship in 2008.
Gumecindo is survived by his loving wife, Emily Hernandez; his parents, Reynaldo and Melania of Guerrero, Mexico; His children, Omar Hernandez, of Rexburg; Martin (Amberlynn) Hernandez; Sonia Hernandez and Diego Hernandez, of Saint Anthony; His 8 brothers and sisters, Augustine (Ellen) Hernandez; Reymundo (Leslie) Hernandez; Veronica (Roberto) Garcia; of Saint Anthony, Navor (Maria) Hernandez, of California; Nicolasa; Epifania; Mimi; Bonifacio; of Mexico; and 5 grandchildren.
A public visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E 1st N) in St. Anthony. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
