Gunnar Bryner

Gunnar Bryner, born August 7th, 2014, to Haley Bryner and Broc Nelson, passed away peacefully on March 1st, 2026.

Gunnar was an adventurer, spreading joy across the country on his frequent trips. Many of his favorite times were at beaches, lakes, and especially hot springs. Though Gunnar was an unexpected blessing in the Bryner household, he brightened the lives of all those around him every single day.

He laughed often particularly after pulling a prank on an unexpecting aunt, uncle, sibling, or cousin. He preferred to be involved in whatever games were being played, and rarely ever lost a game of Uno though his tactics might be questionable. Playing Pikmin was one of his many skills, beating Pikmin 4 many times, and he knew more about the Transformers than they knew themselves. He had a great love for fireworks, glowsticks, Godzilla, and any and all things blue.

One of his favorite pastimes was catching ladybugs in the yard with his grandma. He always looked forward to camping and taking a ride on their fishing boat but also loved staying at home to play with his siblings, cousins and the waterslide out back.

Gunnar's condition caused him a great deal of pain through the final years of his life. This included headaches, seizures, and losing the basic function of all his extremities. Yet even through all this and much more he never lost his bright smile and warm personality. Even in his last days he remained happy, positive, and utterly terrified of mosquitoes.

Gunnar is preceded in death by both his grandfathers and Primus, creator of the Transformers.

He is survived by Haley Bryner, Broc Nelson, Jennifer Bryner, Kimberly Villeneuve, Erica Wright, Tyler Nelson, Charlotte Nelson, Chelsey Bradshaw, Andrew Bryner, Taylor Bryner, Alexa Withers, Jacob Bryner, Blair Bryner, Blu the dog and the Autobots.
