Obituary

Guy Alexander Erikson passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Guy was born June 11, 1936 to E. Raymond and LaVon Hamilton Erikson in Rexburg, ID. He lived a very active life. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Madison High School in 1955 where he was involved in the FFA. Guy attended the University of Idaho, Ricks College, and BYU. He graduated from Utah State with a master's degree in agriculture economics. He served in the Army Reserves.  Guy was involved in farming most of his life, first with his father Raymond, then partnered with his brother Keith in a farming operation south of Rexburg. He received recognitions for Outstanding Farmer of the Year, 1989 - 1990, and for his many years of service as Director for Valley Wide Cooperative.

Guy first met his sweetheart, Leola Wilding of Sugar City, at Ricks College. Years later, their paths crossed again when they both graduated from Utah State University at the same time. After returning to Idaho, they eventually started dating. They were married on his birthday in 1965 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Guy served for 2 ½-years in the Sweden Stockholm Mission (1956-1958) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He later served missions with Leola in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (2002-2004), Hong Kong (2009-2010), and the Family Tree Visitor Center in Park City, Utah (2013-2015). Guy served in a variety of church callings including ward clerk, financial clerk, bishop's counselor, bishop (1986-1991), stake young men's presidency counselor, stake high councilor, and instructor. He and Leola also served as workers in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples.
Guy worked hard throughout his life and taught his children this quality, along with honesty, integrity, service, and faith in Jesus Christ. He was an example of strength and steadfastness. He will be greatly missed.

Guy is survived by his wife Leola, their children: Glade (Dana) Erikson, William (Shellie) Erikson, Marlene (Cameron) Parkinson, Marilyn (Derek) Garn, Daniel (Amy) Erikson, Janeal (Lynn) Belnap, Lee Ann (Andrew) Forgrave, and Thomas (Charlotte) Erikson. Their posterity includes 41 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elaine Erikson and Maureen Stewart, his brother Keith Erikson, a grandson, John Erikson and a great-grandson, Ashton Allen.
