Gwen Elizabeth Herker was born on the 4 ^th of November 1951 to William August Herker Jr. and Alice Lorain Jones Herker in Des Moines Iowa.

She lived in Des Moines through her schooling and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in the class of 1970.  After High school she came west for the first time to attend Weber State College in Ogden Utah.  After graduating as a License Practical Nurse Gwen went to Salt Lake City to work at the University of Utah Medical Center.

Soon her sister Sue joined her in Salt Lake City where they lived together for many years.  Gwen then started working for Maytime Manor Nursing Home in downtown Salt Lake.   She worked there until she decided to further her education.  Both Gwen and Sue decided to return to Iowa where Gwen attended Des Moines Community College.  She graduated with her Registered Nurse degree in 1982.  After graduation Gwen started working for Iowa Health at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.  She worked in the mental health unit until 2010 when she retired.  After retirement Gwen, along with her sister Sue, Moved to Rexburg, Idaho to be closer to their brother Bruce and his family.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew Scott.  Survivors include her sister Susan Herker of Rexburg ID.  Her Brother William E. Herker (Joann) of Myrtle Beach, SC.  Her other brother Bruce (Ina) of Rexburg, ID.   Many Nieces and Nephews Alison Love (Jeff) Bradenton FL , Jean Vogler (Dan) San Antonio TX, Christopher Herker (Tammy) Springville UT, Nicole Paulsen (Anthony) Caldwell ID, Joseph Herker of Meridian ID, Amy Herker of Rexburg ID, David Herker (Dani) Caldwell ID , Joshua Herker of Meridian ID and Jon Herker of Meridian ID.

These Nieces and Nephews she considered her children also along with all of their children.
