Obituary

Harold Zollinger Hill, 94, of Rexburg, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony. He was born June 30, 1918, in Rexburg, Idaho to Harry and Ida Zollinger Hill. He attended school in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School.

He married Catherine "Kay" Hansen on March 20, 1940 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home and raised their family in Rexburg. Kay died on March 4, 2008.

He worked in construction for Charles Zollinger Construction and Harvey Walters Concrete. During the war years he lived and worked in Ogden, Utah on defense projects. He then started an independent contracting business in Rexburg with Glen Walters. He did a lot of architectural drawings for the houses they built. He was a true craftsman, who could do anything with his hands and turn ideas into reality.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.

He loved fishing, hunting, skiing, camping, bowling, golf and anything outdoors. He skied and rode motorcycles into his 80's. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved helping others, especially children.

He is survived by his children, Janet Kay Huntoon of Boise, Richard "Dick" (Sheila) Hill of Wilford, Jeffrey (Donna) Hill of Rexburg; a daughter-in-law, Pam Hill of Plano; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kay, a son Douglas; siblings Lula Bertsch, Ray Z. Hill, Talmage "Bill" Hill, Doris Smart, Ross Z. Hill, and Veniece Stoddard; and a son-in-law Martin Huntoon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, at the Rexburg Stonebridge LDS Chapel, 475 East 7th North, with Bishop Brian Memmott officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
