Harold Kaye Larson, 89, of Rexburg, passed peacefully away on April 21, 2015. He was born on October 21, 1925 in Magna, Utah. He was the third son of Jared August Larson and Myrtle Harman. He received his education in Oakland, California.
During WWII he served as a messman and cook in the Merchant Marines during the years 1943 - 1945. After the war he also served in the Army for a year. During his time in the Merchant Marines his training as a cook gave him his vocation and he furthered his training and became a chef. This vocation he served in for 18 years at Rick's College where he retired.
Quality Cleaners and Rooftop Chimney sweep were also businesses that he owned and ran for a number of years with his family.
He loved the outdoors where he loved to go hunting and fishing. His passion was training bird and hunting dogs. His second passion was golfing.
Harold or Kaye (as the family called him) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many positions.
He married Claudia del Peters and from this union they were blessed with three children: Mark Allen, Ted Harland, and Melissa Joy. They later divorced.
Shortly after the Teton Dam flood of 1976. Kaye's nephew asked him to moved from California to Rexburg to help him in restoring homes damaged by the flood waters. Because of this move he met his love, Louise Drake Holloway. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Fall LDS Temple on June 25, 1977. Thus becoming a stepfather to her children: Terri Louise, David Paul, Cheryl Ann (deceased), Candace, Brandon A. (deceased) and Brian Drake.
They spent many happy years together. Sometimes going to Alaska to work and serving in the St. George LDS Temple.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25th at the Stonebridge LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
