William H. "Harvey" Klein was born August 21st, 1930 in Wilford, Idaho and died June 22nd, 2017, also in Wilford Idaho.
He was the eighth child of John and Katie Hetze Klein. He had five brothers and two sisters; Alfred, Harry, Lydia, Edward, Elmer, Raymond, and Ruby.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, six of his siblings, his son Mark Klein, and son-in-law David Gietzen. He is survived by his wife Irene Klein, and sister Ruby Bowersox of Drummond, ID. Harvey is also survived by three of his children; daughter Donna Gietzen (Gerry Thamert) of St. George, UT, and two sons; John Klein (Lynn) and Brent Klein (Robin) both of St. Anthony, ID. Harvey had four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Harvey grew up in Wilford, Idaho and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in 1950. He participated in football and FFA. His FFA project was raising sheep. He was drafted into the army in 1951 during the Korean War at age twenty one. He completed basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington and spent most of his military time in the United States.
He met Irene Swensen in St. Anthony, ID. They dated for about a year, and were married November 18th, 1955. They moved into a home in Wilford nicknamed "The Castle" and after a short time had the opportunity to purchase a small farm in Wilford. Harvey and Irene spent their lives working on their farm. They raised their family and took care of their animals and were very proud of their home and accomplishments.
Harvey was a life-long member of the Wool Growers Association and served as Water Master for the Fall River Canal Company for several years. He loved sports, and enjoyed coaching little league baseball. He was a proud advocate of the FFA and 4H programs and ensured all of his kids, grandkids and neighborhood kids participated by showing lambs at the fair.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wilford LDS Chapel, 215 N. 2400 E. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. Both times at the church. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
Military Rites will be provided by the St. Anthony Veterans and Idaho Honor Guard.
