Helene Leigh Rightenour peacefully passed away July 5, 2025 at the age of 88 in St. Anthony ID.

Helene was born to Iona and John Leigh on June 25, 1937 in Cedar City UT. Her Family moved to Salt Lake City where Helene attended school and graduated from East High School.  While working for her future in-laws' and her parents' motels in West Yellowstone, she met her husband David Rightenour. They were married at the Flying "L" Motel, October 24, 1963. After the wedding, David Moved Helene to Sacramento CA where they started their family with daughter Michelle, and two sons David L, and Timothy. In 1975, David and Helene moved their family back to West Yellowstone to run the family business. Seven years later Helene began her career as a Public Safety Communicator at the West Yellowstone Police Department. She loved working with emergency service agencies so much, she retired three times with over 28 years of service. David Rightenour passed away September 24, 2011, one month shy of their 48th wedding anniversary.

In Helene's youth, she loved visiting her grandparent's ranch, ballet, tap dancing, and playing the steel guitar. As an adult, she loved hand work; embroidery, quilting, crochet, and knitting. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Helene loved serving her faith, family and community. She is loved by many and will truly be missed. Her Legacy of service and kindness will forever be remembered.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Yellowstone LDS Chapel, 310 Gibbon Avenue. The family will receive friends that morning from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the West Yellowstone Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
