Homer Reuben Taylor, long -time resident of Rexburg, Idaho returned to his Heavenly Father on September 19, 2013 at the age of 92. He was surrounded by his family who dearly love him.

Homer was born in Preston, Idaho on July 31, 1921 to Reuben Davis Taylor and Olga Mary Jensen Taylor. He was the third child of eight children. He grew up on a farm and learned to work very hard. He attended schools in the Preston area. After high school, he took a vocational training class in aircraft reading and drawing at Weber College.

He met Guinevere Bowen on October 10th, 1942, which he recalls as being the most eventful and wonderful day of his life. They were married in the Logan Temple on April 15, 1943. After they were married, Homer returned to serve in the military in World War II. Guinevere stayed at home and they wrote to each other every day. During Homer's absence their first child, Marvin, was born. Marvin was 15 months old before Homer was able to return home from serving in the War to meet his oldest son for the first time.

The Taylors have welcomed eight children in all to their family: Marvin H. Taylor, Mark B. Taylor (Laurel Watkins), Ann Taylor (Jim Meyers, deceased/Greg Romriell), Joan Taylor (Stephen Hoskins), Alan Taylor (deceased age 6), Nyle Taylor (Julie Nye), John T. Taylor (Jana Winn), Guinevere Ruth Taylor (Darrin Sparks.) Their posterity is well over 100 family members now.

Homer was the foreman at Taylor Chevrolet for many years. He also owned and operated a farm in Hibbard, and owned and operated a large apartment complex in Rexburg. He was always a good provider.

Both Homer and Guinevere have served in many positions of leadership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of their favorite callings was serving in the Idaho Falls Temple, which they enjoyed for many years. They also served a mission together at the Rexburg Deseret Industries.

In April they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Their marriage has been one of great happiness, love and consideration to one another. They have lived together on the same corner in Hibbard for the last 65 years. Their original home was destroyed when the Teton Dam broke in 1976. Homer, being a do-it-yourself kind of a man, built a new home on the same land where they still live today.

Homer is survived by his wife, Guinevere Bowen Taylor, seven of his eight children, 40 grandchildren, and 75 great-grand children, a sister, Jean Young (Seattle) , and many other sisters and brothers-in-law.

Homer and Guinevere have taught their family to embrace the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through example and work. They have been a standard of love and endurance to all who are privileged to know them.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, at the Henry's Fork Stake Center, 1508 West 3000 North in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Idaho Honor Guard and Madison County Veterans.
