I. Gale Hathaway
Irvin Gale Hathaway, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away on August 2, 2014, at Reflections unit of Morningstar, from causes incident to Alzheimer's disease.
He was born on June 16, 1934 in Chester, Idaho to Irvin Lemuel and Audessa LaPriel Glover Hathaway. He attended Fremont county schools and graduated from South Fremont High School and then the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in Architecture. While attending college he met an married Marlene Layton Newby in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 21, 1956.
Gale served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to the Toronto Canada Mission 1954 - 1956 and with his wife to the Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission 2004 - 2005.
At a very young age he was taught by his father the art of building homes, which became his life's work. He was sought after by many to build in Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. His work is well known through out the valley. He also became a realtor and had Hathaway-Genta a Century 21 franchise. He was a successful realtor but his true love was building.
He is survived by his wife Marlene of Idaho Falls; children, Galene (Craig) Carter of Sugar City, Idaho; Marlynae (Bryan) Thueson of South Jordan, Utah; Shannon (Robin) Williams of Evanston, Wyoming; JaNae (Richard) Lee of Kerns, Utah; Rad (Kristen) Hathaway of Eerie, Colorado; Kurt (Shauna) Hathaway of Morgan, Utah; and Kelsie (Kyle) Orme of Shelley, Idaho; 35 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; He is also survived by siblings, Morita (Jerry) Stucki of Idaho Falls; and DeLynn (Lori) Hathaway of St. Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Clayta Eaton and Ann Beck; a brother, Danny Hathaway and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop Drostan Orme officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony) and Saturday from noon until 12:45 p.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
