We as a family have nothing but good memories of our dearest "MOM", friend, servant, and kind person. Iris Birch was born on September 25, 1924 to Ira and Delilah Beck. Her early years were spent in the family home in Parker Idaho. She was always surrounded by brothers and sisters and instantly became a mom to them. She was well loved by anyone that came to know her.
She met Jack Birch at a very young age and they were married when she was 15 years old. It wasn't a very popular decision, but they knew what they were doing as the marriage lasted until dad's passing in 1992. She was the proud mom to three children Wynn (Marcy) Birch, Dennis (Marji) Birch, and Jacqueline (Ernie) Baumgartner. Jacqueline and her husband Ernie were tragically taken from us in a car accident in 1980. They had two children Becky and Louis. At the time most people were retiring, mom and dad eagerly agreed to take the children into their home and raise them as their own. Becky and Louis were seven and four years old at the time.
Mom and dad spent all their lives raising kids and helping with family. Mom is survived by her brothers Ted (Merilyn) Beck, Bill and (Beth) Beck, sisters Patsy (Jerry) Ostermiller, and Elva (David) Jay. Her sons Wynn and Dennis Birch, Becky and Jim Robinson, and Louis Baumgartner. She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Delilah Beck. Brothers Allen , Jack, and Jay Beck. Sisters Larae Hanson, Janeice Kirkham, and Valeen Turner. She has 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Our fondest memories include any meals that she made, family gatherings, and again any meals she made!! We always enjoyed her donuts when we watched the Wizard of Oz! Thanksgiving, which was a full day of eating, family gatherings, and trips to see family.
Her life of service to others is a great example to all of her family and friends. Most people in the Saint Anthony area have had the pleasure of eating moms great cooking. She was an excellent quilter and always had three or four quilts she was working on.
Mom passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 under the care of Avalon hospice care and the tender loving hands of all the good folks at the Homestead Assisted Living Center.
