Irma Rowberry
Rexburg - Irma C. Welch Rowberry, 90 of Rexburg, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg.
She was born December 31, 1918 in Milledgeville, Georgia to Luther Herman and Lula Henrietta Parker Welch.
After her father died and under the threat from the state of Georgia to put the children in an orphanage her mother moved her young family to Arimo, Idaho where Irma attended school and graduated from High School. She also attended Idaho State University in Pocatello.
She married Wayne P. Rowberry on October 14, 1940 in Pocatello, Idaho. He died in April of 1976.
She worked during planting and harvest on the farm that her husband ran for H. W. Jacobson, at Idaho Freshpack and as a proofreader of Artco.
She loved Atlanta Braves baseball and took her grandson to meet Dale Murphy when he visited Ricks College. She enjoyed crocheting and made beautiful afghans. She also enjoyed family trips to Yellowstone, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling with her sister. She especially loved her grandchildren and attending family reunions.
She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she taught Primary, was a visiting teacher and secretary of the Sunday School.
She is survived by her children, Joyce (Bobbie) Thompson of Shelley, ID; Jan (Don) Aeschbacher of Idaho Falls, ID; Pat (Wayne) Berndt of North Ogden, UT; and Michael (Nancy) Rowberry of Rexburg, ID; a sister, Blanch Thompson of Layton, UT; Brother-in-law, Marley Fackrell of Blackfoot, ID; sister-in-law Betty Welch of Chubbuck, 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and a son; David Rowberry and a son-in-law, Don Aeschbacher.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Rexburg Center Stake Center (590 Summerwood Dr.). The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and on Friday from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery
