Obituary

Jack "Mad Jack" Robert Wright passed quietly from this world on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He died peacefully in his sleep at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg with his family at his side.

He was born in Rexburg, Idaho on September 25, 1934 to Leo and Grace Wright. He and his family moved to Toppenish, Washington after the death of his father in 1936.

He worked as a butcher for many years in the Yakima Valley. He married Lucille Ferguson and had four children, Cindy, Mike, Jonni, and Timothy. In the late 60's he was recruited by the Department of Agriculture to become a federal meat inspector. He enjoyed his job and was commended several times over the years for outstanding performance of his duties. After retirement he moved back to St. Anthony.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting in the area. He loved going to the mountain man rendezvous. He was a boy scout and this love of the outdoors fit very well with his mountain man life. He was a very well known and taught survival skills. He was a master flint knapper. He was a life long musician and played the guitar along with several other instruments. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children; Cynthia Howard of Kelso, Washington, Mike Wright of Selah, Washington, Jonni (Barry) Murphy of Milwaukie, Oregon and Timothy Wright of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Michael Wright, Thomas Howard, Jake Howard, Thailee Wright.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo B. Wright, his mother, Grace Wardle, his step-father, Les Wardle.

A special thank you to his friends and neighbors and the staff at Madison Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24th at the St. Anthony 4th Ward
Chapel. Family will receive friends form 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop # 70, C/O Bishop Willmore, 410 Maple Avenue St. Anthony 83445.
