James Kay Bissette, 67, of Rexburg, died December 28, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of natural causes. He was born October 25, 1944, in Rexburg to James Rudolph and Wanda Marie Jensen Bissette.

After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned from the war, he met and married the love of his life, LaDawn Blakely, on November 14, 1969, in Ririe, Idaho. They never had a dull moment together. Together they raised two sons.

He worked for Longyear Drilling Company as a core driller for four years. This job took him and his family to Nevada, Oregon and California. He then went to work for the City of Rexburg in the Water Department for 24 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, his computer games, chat friends, and his grandchildren. He had many friends whom he loved and appreciated. He had a big heart and was a hard worker.

He is survived by his wife, LaDawn of Rexburg; children, Jim Bissette of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Nick (Louisa) Bissette of Rexburg; grandchildren Nathan Bissette and Chiara Bissette, and a sister Sherry Bissette of Rigby. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the Rexburg Center Stake Chapel, 590 Summerwood Drive, with Bishop Kevin Anderson of the Rexburg 11th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Tuesday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
