James Bryan King, 69 of Pocatello and a former Rexburg resident, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in Pocatello. He was born May 8, 1941 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Odis Bennet King and Ila Grace Masters King. He attended Ricks College, Brigham Young University in Utah, Idaho State University and University of New Mexico. Besides Albuquerque, Pocatello, Provo, UT and Rexburg he also lived in Grand Junction, CO, Colorado Springs, CO, Denver, CO, Wichita, KS and Idaho Falls.
On February 14,1962 he married Viola Jean Wasden. They later divorced. Mr. King was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a seminary instructor, Elder quorum president, Young Men's president and served on the Activities Committee, as a teacher and in other callings. He was a high school coach and taught English, Speech and Drama.
He was a member of Lions Clubs International and enjoyed motorcycles, camping, fishing, race car driving, boating, chess, model trains, and was train club president. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying single engine aircraft and he enjoyed photography, ballroom dance and sports such as wrestling, basketball, football softball and golf.
He is survived by three daughters; Kodie (Daryl R.) Bowen, Sherrie L. ( R. David) Gibby and Heidi J. (David D.) Carey, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two grandsons, Taylor Gibby and Jeremiah Roy and his former wife Jean Wasden. Services and interment will be at a later date in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
