James "Jim" Wesley Dewey, 86, passed away September 6th, 2014 at the Teton Peaks Assisted Living Center in Driggs, Idaho.
Jim was born May 9th, 1928 in Victor (Chapin), Idaho to Joseph Wesley Dewey and Mabel Mae Hills Dewey. He grew up and lived in the Teton Valley area known as Chapin. Jim attended school through the 8th grade in Chapin and one year of High School in Driggs, Idaho. He worked various jobs until he was recruited into the Army, serving in the Korean War from January 30th, 1951 until October 29th, 1952.
Jim married Treva Doraine Hill February 20th, 1953. He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 26th, 1960. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 24th, 1965. Jim loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. He worked at various jobs throughout his life, but his love was cattle ranching. He and Treva were very seldom seen apart. In their later years you would see them both riding in their "Rhino" UTV, through the hay meadows and pastures.
Jim is survived by a sister, Barbara (Delmar) Hill of Driggs, Idaho. Two daughters, LuAnn (Milton) Webster of Rexburg, Idaho and Glenda Jo (Bart) Webster of Victor, Idaho. One son, James (Valerie) Dewey of Victor, Idaho. Also, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, two sisters, Vera Jean (Monroe) Dustin, Shirley (Sheldon) Jorgensen and one great-grandchild, Tyson Webster.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10th at the Victor LDS Chapel with Bishop J. Lynn Bagley officiating. Visitation will be 45 minutes prior to the service and also, Tuesday, September 9th from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at the Victor LDS church. Burial will be at the Darby Cemetery, with Military rites being performed by the American Legion Post 95.
