James Richard Westwood, 57, was taken home on November 25, 2011 while serving someone who needed his help.
Jim "Jimmy" was born September 3, 1954 in Rigby, Idaho. He was the son of Ray and Norma Brindley Westwood. He grew up in Terreton, Idaho until his sophomore year and then moved to Rexburg and graduated from Madison High where he met the love of his life, his sweetheart, Kathie Lowder Westwood. They were married and had eight children; whom they raised in Sugar City, Idaho. He was known to attend every event and supported them with all his heart. He carried his love to his grandkids as they brought more joy into his life.
Jim was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served every calling to his full capacity. He was just called to serve in the primary and was elated to be able to spend time with the children in the ward he loved.
Jim was an avid fly-fisherman and hunter. He loved the sunrise and sunset. He loved anything adventuresome including climbing the Grand Teton, four-wheeling, scuba-diving, riding his dirt bike, and flying his airplane. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. If there was something to celebrate, a party was thrown and the whole family gathered. He was the calm in the Westwood Storm and we always knew that everything was going to be okay as long as he was there. He spent countless hours fixing cars, changing brakes, helping build additions or whatever else he could "Jimmy Rig".
Jim graduated from Ricks College with an Associates in Electrical Engineering. Jim worked for Rocky Mountain Power for 33 years and truly enjoyed his job and serving those he met along the way. He was known as the guy who could get things done, if a farmer's power went out they called Jimmy and he got it fixed.
Jim is survived by his Wife and Sweetheart, Kathie Lowder Westwood, his Mom, Norma Westwood, his Brothers, Melvin Westwood, Milton Westwood, and Paul Westwood. His children Camille (Duston) Cureton, Jeremy (Holli) Westwood, Cecilia (Corey) Casper, Michael Westwood, and Celeste (Alex) Bennion. His grandchildren: Jazmin Casper, Cody Cureton, Shulese Casper, Caleb Cureton, Alexa Westwood, Justin Casper, Kolby Westwood, Logan Westwood, Kai Westwood, Cassidy Cureton, Samantha Casper, and Addi Westwood.
