IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jamie
Black
September 26, 1977 – March 13, 2021
Alexander Jamie Black, of Idaho Falls, passed peacefully in his home, with his loving wife, Shannielle by his side, and surrounded by family and close friends on Saturday, March 13.
Jamie was born on September 26, 1977 in Las Vegas Nevada to Sandra Kay Black and Glynn Daniel Brite. He was later taken in and loved by Darrell and Laurel Batson and their six children. Where he grew up and attended Rancho High School. He went on to attend Ricks College, earning his Associates Degree, and meeting his wife, Shannielle Partridge.
They were married April 27, 2002, and moved to Boise where they spent the next 16 years, and welcomed six children. During that time Jamie earned his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Idaho State University and his Masters Degree from Northwest Nazarene University. He knew he wanted to be a social worker from an early age, and worked hard to achieve that goal.
He worked at the Idaho State Correctional Institution for many years, where he was well respected and universally loved by colleagues and inmates alike.
Jamie battled valiantly with many medical problems and conditions from an early age. Doctors and hospitals were a part of his every day life and he had a constant state of worry for his health. If you didn't know him well, you would never have known. He never let it diminish his way of life, and he went on with resilience every single day.
His ever-present sense of humor and easy going manner made him easy to get to know. He had a talent for making everyone feel seen and respected, and that drew people to him.
He held many callings within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and faithfully fulfilled and enjoyed each of them.
Family was on the top of his priority list, and he could often be found teasing, tickling, and providing shoulder or piggy back rides, for the little girls, and a listening ear and heart felt advice for the older kids. As well as always being a partner and companion to Shannielle, and co-leading many and varied adventures with their kids.
A devoted father and adoring husband, he always welcomed other kids into his house, and therefore, into his family, and was constantly offering rides to activities such as scouts and baseball and football, where he cheered on, taught, loved and encouraged them just as he did his own kids.
The family was always on the go. He provided shuttle service for everything from school, to birthday parties, and did it all with grace and style. He loved to attend dance and piano recitals, as well as sporting events and scouts. He could easily adapt to changing plans, and made it all seem effortless and easy.
An ardent fan of all things Star Wars, he frequently quoted the movies, and attended every midnight premier with whoever would go with him. He enjoyed finding and posting funny memes and witty t-shirts, much to the enjoyment of his friends (and possible eye-rolling) of his family. To which he was often heard saying "This is the way".
Jamie will be missed by so very many people. His humor, kindness, generosity and genuine love are his everlasting legacy. Jamie is survived by his wife, Shannielle, and his children, Shaun (17), Sam (15), Kayla (13), Megan (9), Rachel (7) and Leah (5).
