Obituary

Janice Carolyn Guipre Fransen, age 79, passed away from effects of a prolonged illness at the home of her daughter, Saturday, July 3, 2021.

She was born February 12, 1942, to Charles Richard and Ruth Reed Guipre in Soda Springs, Idaho. She spent her early childhood in nearby Bancroft. When she was six years old, her father died in an automobile accident. At the age of eight, her mother married Glenn Anderson, and the family moved to Ashton, Idaho.

Janice graduated from North Fremont High School in 1960, where she was a cheerleader throughout her high school years. She was a talented dancer and was selected as a performer in the musical production The Boyfriend in Los Angeles, where she lived for a time. She returned to Idaho to work as a telephone operator in Idaho Falls before going to work at the Atomic Energy Commission.

She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in April 1961. She married Douglas Fransen on September 29, 1961. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 18, 1969. During their marriage, they lived in Monteview, Idaho where they farmed and ranched. She loved all the animals on the farm. She delighted in her laying hens which she took care of for years. She enjoyed tending and bottle-feeding the "bum" calves and named each of them.

Janice was creative and frugal, which led to her accomplishment as a self-taught seamstress. She made beautiful dresses for her daughter and others, as well as clothing for her sons. In spite of a hardworking farm life, Janice always ensured she was well-put together. She was classy, tidy, and created a home with a beautiful and inviting atmosphere. She was a talented artist and painted many beautiful works, which were displayed in the family home.

Janice was friendly and outgoing. She sold Avon for many years in the Monteview and Mud Lake area where she earned multiple sales awards. This created a foundation of many cherished associations and friendships in the community.

She was generous and had a very kind and tender heart. Her children will always remember her often providing money anonymously from her Avon earnings to those in need at Christmas. She loved the widowed sisters in her ward, and served them selflessly for years - taking them to "town" (Idaho Falls), having them over for dinner, and seeing that their needs were met.

Janice had a strong and unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in all organizations in her ward and stake - her favorite was as a Sunday School teacher to the youth. Always supportive of her children and grandchildren serving LDS missions, she was known to write them weekly, if not more. Her family always knew that she loved them unconditionally, and they were a priority in her life.

Janice moved to Rexburg in 1999, and continued to maintain a beautiful and welcoming home for all. She struggled with severe rheumatoid arthritis for many years, but that did not slow down her love and concern for others and family. She relished her time with her children and grandchildren hosting sleepovers and attending their events.

We love you, Mom and Grandma. We look forward to a joyous reunion in the future.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Dana) Izatt of Rexburg; sons Stephen (Peggy) Fransen of Idaho Falls, Gregory (Saul) Fransen of Lake Forest, California, and Mitchell (Tiffany) Fransen of Firth; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Sandra Guipre; and step-brother, Neil (Randee) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Richard Guipre; mother, Ruth Anderson; stepfather, Glenn Anderson; sister, Sharon Hill; brother-in-law, Don Hill; brother, John "Jack" Guipre; grandson, Christopher Izatt; and step-brother, Bruce (Shawn) Anderson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 10th at the Harvest Hills LDS Chapel, 612 S Hidden Valley Rd, Rexburg with Bishop Kent Bessey of the Rexburg 6th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 9:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
