Jannie Eaton Fletcher, 100, of Rexburg, died Wednesday, March 23 at Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg of natural causes. She was born September 4, 1910 in Vernal, Utah to Lewis and Sina Mae Cook Eaton. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her mother passed away when she was two years old. Her father moved his family to Shelley, Idaho where he met and married Cora Lords.
On December 10, 1030, Jannie married Preston Fletcher. They had three children; Gary, Brent and Jean. They were later divorced.
Jannie worked all of her life to take care of her children. She worked at various jobs and in 1959, she went to work for Utah Power and Light Co. in Rexburg where she remained until she retired.
She was an active member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Rexburg 1st Ward. She served in many positions including as an officiator at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for many years. She was a visiting teacher until she was 98.
She is survived by her daughter Jean (Garph) Lords of Rexburg, sons Gary (Mildred) Fletcher and Brent (Reta) Fletcher both of Shelley; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, a brother Clyde, sisters Melba, Eadie, Vella and Lola, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the Rexburg North Stake Center, 314 East 2nd North, with Bishop Gary Lovell of the Rexburg 1st Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home.
