Jay Clyde Ricks, 91, of Rexburg, Idaho, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, in Rexburg. He was the son of Alfred Taylor Ricks and Ruth Smellie Ricks and was raised in Felt and Rexburg Idaho.
He attended Madison High School where he met his sweetheart Beverly Walz. After graduating from Madison High School, he worked on his family's farm and served in the Army at the end of World War II. Upon returning from his military service, he and Beverly were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 22, 1946. Jay and Beverly's life was busy as they raised their family, farmed, and served in their church and community. Jay worked hard and loved his family, friends, and community.
Jay is survived by his children: Clyde (JoDeane) Ricks, of Driggs, Idaho; Sheila (Larry) Moulton, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jana (Scott) Southwick, of Spokane, Washington; Boyd (Carol) Ricks, of Sandy, Utah; Eileen (Steven) McDaniel of Vestal, New York; 40 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Walz Ricks, his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Ricks, and his five brothers (Robert, Donald, Mark, Alfred, and Ray).
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20th at the Rexburg East Stake Center. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment with military rites will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
