Gerald Dayton Grover, 76, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, in Sunnydell, ID after a second battle with an aggressive Leukemia. He was a loving husband, gentle father and grandfather, and great coach and sportsman. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him dearly.

Jerry was born on December 1, 1947, in Soda Springs, Idaho to loving parents Latrese Crowell Grover and Dayton E. Grover. He grew up in Sunnydell where he learned to garden, fish, hunt, and play basketball. Jerry attended Archer Elementary where his mother was a teacher. Then he attended Madison Jr. High and Madison High School. He was proud to be a Bobcat forever.

He attended Ricks College where he met the love of his life, Rai Wightman Grover. He saw her playing the piano in a practice room and he was hooked. After attending Ricks College and Brigham Young University, he taught math at Madison High School and Coached Basketball where he was able to coach his 1981 Boys Basketball team to a State Championship.

After retirement, Jerry spent his hours in his beloved Idaho Mountains fishing with his friends and family where he was able to teach many of his grandchildren to fish. He loved his Idaho Mountains and all the happy times he spent there.

Jerry loved his family fiercely and was a pillar of strength for them all. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ and held many church callings where he served others throughout his life.

Jerry is survived by his wife Rai, daughters Tawnya (David) Bearss, Darla (Kelly) Weathersby, Shaundel (Dennis) Radford, Heidi (Brian) Schow, Brothers Wayne (Vicki) Grover, Mitch (Darla) Grover, Sister Bev Fox, brother-in-law Kershasp Pundole, 18 grandchildren (15 boys and 3 girls), and 8 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his mother Latrese, father Dayton, brother Rodney, sister Judy (Pundole), and brother-in-law Ed Fox.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Archer church building (201 West 8000 South, Rexburg, ID). Viewing at 10:00- 10:45 am with funeral services following at 11:00. There will also be a viewing Friday, February 23, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg from 5:00 - 7:00 pm that evening.
