James Edward "Jim" Dunn , 85, of Egin, Idaho died Sunday, January 17, 2010 of congestive heart failure. He was born September 24, 1924, in Fairfield, Idaho, to Ross Edwin and Vilda Elvira Moon Dunn. He attended Egin Grade School, Edmunds High School, and Whittier High School in Los Angeles, California. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in England with the 91st Bomber Group, 323rd Bomb Squadron as a tail gunner in a B-17. He acquired the rank of staff sergeant.
Jim married Stella Parkinson on December 29, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and except for a brief time, spent his entire married life in Egin Bench where he and Stella raised three sons; Vic, Wayne, and Charlie. Jim was owner of Egin Service and partner with his father, Ross, in Dunn and Dunn Land Leveling in Egin, Idaho.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, square dancing, camping, gold panning, Model A's, Model T's, and pinochle. He and Stella spent many winters RV camping in Arizona. His favorite was riding motorcycles into Loon Creek and spending summers salmon fishing with Stella by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; sons, Wayne (Luena) and Charlie, both of Egin; and Vic (Renea) of Pleasant View, Utah; brother, Gene (Pam), of St. George, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Loraine, a brother, Douglas, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Egin LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Brandon Moon officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery where military rites will be provided by the St. Anthony VFW and American Legion. Arrangements are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
